We hope our SATS quiz website makes practicing for the SATS test less daunting and even possibly fun! But we also want everyone to remember that the SATS tests are really not important. They are there as a test of the schools and not the pupils. Unfortunately, it’s the pupils that have to sit the tests and not the teachers. And as a result, pupils and parents can feel the stress that comes with fear of the stigma of failure. Children may believe that SATs represent a judgement of their abilities.
We say, take pride in doing well, if you want to. But if you can’t answer every question, don’t worry. That’s how the tests are designed. The questions get harder and harder until hardly anyone can solve them. It’s like putting weights on a bridge, heavier and heavier until it breaks. Of course it will break at some point. That doesn’t mean it was a bad bridge.
What’s more, a lot of the things you are taught so you can answer the questions aren’t all that useful. Who cares what a fronted adverbial is?? So if you don’t get full marks, just remember, it won’t affect your life. Nobody is going to ask how you did, later on.
Your questions answered
If you have a question, you may find the answer here.
Some browsers don’t allow this. Google Chrome does. Others might. Better still, download the Reading papers to your computer and use Adobe Acrobat Reader to complete them. This has two big advantages over using a browser.
1) You can save your work as you go, or at the end. Then you can check over it later and if you need to, email it to someone (your teacher or tutor for instance).
2) When you print the paper your answers will also print. If you try printing from a browser, even Google Chrome, only the original question paper prints, without all your hard work.
The Workouts use questions chosen randomly from all of the other test questions. Occasionally the same question will come up more than once due to the random nature of selection.
Instead of completing the paper in your browser, it’s better to download the Reading papers to your computer and use Adobe Reader to complete them. This has two big advantages over using a browser.

To ensure there is a big supply of different questions, the Workouts have loads more questions than you’re likely to have time to answer. So don’t worry if your percentage score is low. What’s important is that you improve your score with practice.
In the real test, you have a lot more time to answer the questions.
There is no simple right or wrong answer to many of the Reading paper questions; it still requires a trained marker to award marks.
The main advantage we offer for users of the Reading papers is that the answers can be typed in, instead of hand-written. This means the completed answer book may be printed off, saved, or emailed to someone for marking. It saves a lot of paper too. Also, some children prefer this way of working.
Use Adobe Acrobat Reader to complete the Reading papers.
About 98% are identical; a few have had to be adapted. Every adapted questions tests the same knowledge as the original question. Find out more here.
To enter a fractions such as five-eights, use the slash symbol as the divider.
e.g.
5/8
To enter an answer with a whole number part also such as ‘two and five-eights’, type a space between the whole number part and the fractional part.
e.g.
2 5/8
The Workouts contain a randomly selected list of questions, so each time you do a Workout you’ll get a different set of questions. Sometimes you’ll see a question you’ve seen before but it’s extremely unlikely you’ll get the same set of questions you’ve done before. So for more practice, take another Workout.
The website does not store the scores and answers given permanently, so we recommend that when your child has completed a test, they print the results.
Yes! And, as long as we can cover costs, it will remain so. To help out there, you can Buy Me a Coffee!
But don’t worry if you can’t afford to. It’s fine to keep on using it for free.
